What is Voice Works?
Based in Maidenhead, we offer dynamic drama based classes for children aged 3 to 18 as well as communication skills and drama classes for adults.
By joining a Voice Works class your child is given a unique opportunity to develop their speech and communication skills, which will increase your child’s confidence and self esteem.
Who is Voice Works for?
Everyone Every person has the right to learn how to communicate effectively.
To communicate, a person has to develop the life skills of listening and responding, sharing ideas, negotiating and working co-operatively. When a person develops these abilities, they naturally become more confident in themselves.
How to help your child communicate?
- Reading with your child daily boosts their ability to concentrate, listen actively and improve their desire to want to read independently
- Re-enacting the story and taking turns to play the different characters will help your child to develop their narrative speaking skills.
- Learning poetry and nursery rhymes help your child develop dynamic and expressive speech
- Games, speech exercises and conversation will help your child speak up!
Emergent readers
Very young children may want you to read the same story over and over again. This is an amazing way to help your child develop their reading skills. Even though your child is currently unable to read, by re-reading a story many times your child will want to tell the story with you, then tell you the story on their own, word verbatim. Overtime this leads to letter and word recognition.
Confidence comes from success and success leads to a desire to try.
Children who try will succeed and children who succeed feel more confident!
